Nautel Presents NEW Concept for Antenna Couplers! Dayton, Ohio, June 8, 2004 - John Pinks, Chief Engineer
(Emeritus), Nautel Limited, will release his white paper “Development
of an Antenna Coupler that Fully Compensates the Deficiencies of
Electrically Short LF/MF Antennas” at the ION 60th Annual Meeting.
The technical paper looks at how the improvements in transmitter
technology have made them more susceptible to the effects of impedance
mismatch. It then describes the development of a new antenna tuning
unit which automatically adjusts both the loading coil impedance and
the resistive matching network to maintain terminating impedance over
wide variations of antenna characteristics.
The aim is to reduce field strength variations and increase confidence
level in meeting required range and signal availability. The
presentation is scheduled for Session E3, 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Wednesday, 8 June 2004, Grand Ballroom E, Marriot Hotel, Dayton, Ohio.
